How to make better characters as a player

No one makes videos on how to make "good" player characters, and I don't mean in regards to Alignment. There are alot of videos on mechanics, but i think alot of people accidentally make edgelord and lone-wolf characters, or don't know where to start with making a backstory. About half my first time players did this for my first campaign.

It would be interesting to see a video with recommendations on making player characters. Common pitfalls. Secrets to making other players interested in your character. etc etc
